Learn and Report Code Violations

Code Enforcement utilizes a variety of tools in an effort to achieve compliance.

Education is just one tool that we use to work with property owners to address a violation. We will work with owners and provide a timeline to resolve the issue and to improve the quality of life in your neighborhood.

Common Environmental & Nuisance violations include:

Inoperable Vehicles – Vehicles which cannot operate on public streets.

Illegal Parking – Parking of vehicles on unimproved surfaces of the front, corner or side yard of buffer yard of a lot in a residential district.

Overgrown Grass – Weeds and grass shall be less than 12″.

Trash Containers – All trash containers must be stored 5′ behind the front plain of the building.

Renting – No more than 4 (non-related) renters at a single family home.

Solid Waste – All property shall be free of solid waste, trash and debris.

If Education does not resolve the condition, Code Enforcement may utilize the following tools:

Notice of Violation – Penalties of up to $2,500 per day and or 12 months in jail.

Abatement – City will abate public nuisance. Unpaid costs can result in a property lien.
